NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils!

It seems that my email has been witholding emails and when I thought that I didn't have further information on the new NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils, I actually did... it just wasn't showing me the email, so this is just a quick post showing you the colours and a little film about them. I did have a longer post almost complete but I lost it all through technical problems - namely the save function failing me, so sorry about that.

The pencils are everything their ‘Velvet Matte’ counterparts are, but glossy instead; and they're available in: New Lover, Happy Days, Hopi, Frivolous, Baroque and Club Mix, priced at £17.50 each.

http://narscosmetics.co.uk/

"The launch is celebrated by a film collaboration with famed fashion director Ruth Hogben, who turned to model Heather Marks for an evocative portrayal of the Pencils. An effortlessly seductive makeup look, created by Diane Kendal, keeps the focus on Marks’ mouth as all six shades of the Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil are used throughout. A juxtaposition of lip-synching with sudden and unexpected sound creates a tension between what Marks appears to be “saying” and what the viewer actually hears."

PRAI O2 Infusion with Vacuum Technology!

I’ve been asked to try out a new product from PRAI, before it launches on QVC Beauty next month, priced at £19.75 (plus P&P I’d assume). The product in question is their O2 Infusion with Vacuum Technology, a product said to help free skin from pollutants and impurities.

Apparently the product activates when massaged into the skin and transforms into a mousse-like foam which feels light and soothing. It’s meant to carry oxygen molecules to the surface of the skin while “vacuum technology” helps to detox and purify the skin.

I’m looking forward to seeing how well this performs, so I’ll report back to you once I’ve given it a bit of a test to let you know my thoughts.

Sponsored Post: Kissable Lips With Nivea Hydro Care!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought that now would be a perfect time to talk about kissing; or more importantly men I would LIKE to kiss (if I was single, or Mr Beauty Scoop would let me... and of course if the men listed actually agreed to it)!

I’d like to point out straight away that as soon as I try to think of men that make me go ‘PHWOAAAR’, my brain goes blank... it literally fails to function; so this isn’t a full and comprehensive list of all the men I’d like to kiss (hussy I am), merely the ones I could remember – and rather shamefully most of these were remembered only by going through my Sky TV planner!

So ladies (and gentlemen?) let’s get going... oh and warning, there may be some gratuitous male nudity in this post!

A new entry on my ‘radar’ (so to speak) is Jessie Pavelka, I ‘discovered’ him only a few weeks ago when I started watching a programme called Diet Tribe, in which he’s the personal trainer. He’s a bit bulkier and has more tattoos than the kind of man I’d usually fancy, but he has gorgeous eyes and a lurrrvely smile, so I can easily get over the other stuff... he can train me, anyday *ahem*! This photo doesn’t do him as much justice as he deserves, he’s 100% better when animated – well who isn’t!

Next up we have Matt Lanter, he plays the gorgeous Liam Hunt in 90210... he’s very American and quite clean cut but again, I’m drawn to his eyes and mouth. Just look at them - lush!

Ian Somerhalder is up next; he plays the brooding vampire, Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries and is a complete delight to look at. Again I love love lurrve his eyes and lips (quelle surprise) – but who wouldn’t?! Bite me!

I love Glee, and I also think that Finn (Cory Monteith) is rather delightful so yes, I think know I’d quite like to kiss him... I do also think that Puck (Mark Sailing) is rather tasty; but I’m not one to be greedy so I’ll stick with just the one Glee cast member for this exercise. I’ve included 2 pictures here; purely because on the second one I was rather perplexed about the length of his index finger... surely that’s been photoshopped?!

Next is Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey... hubba hubba, wish my doctor looked like that - or maybe not, depending on what ailment I was having him check out haha!

Adam Garcia is definitely on my list, he’s one of the reasons I love watching Got to Dance so much; he’s got gorgeous eyes and a cute little bum dimple on his chin... lovely. Also, just look at that body, damn that towel being there!!

Olly Murs is such a cheeky chappy, and very easy on the eye – how could I resist? ;-)

Last (but definitely by no means least) is Jason Merrells who is currently playing Declan in Emmerdale. He’s a bit of alright, don’t you think?!

So anyway... in order to get my lips ready for all this kissing, I’m going to need to make sure my lips are soft, smooth and ready for action; and to achieve this I will use my Nivea Hydro Care Lip Salve (RRP £1.75).

The balm moisturises and hydrates lips which you’d expect with a balm, but it also locks in moisture (rather than locking it out) which keeps lips hydrated for much longer as water is prevented from evaporating out of them, which is what can leave them dry and chapped.

NARS Spring 2011 Collection - Some Swatches!

I’ve been playing with some of the NARS spring 2011 products today (actually that will be yesterday by the time this is posted), and have been really enjoying doing so. The products I’ve got, and swatched for you are:

Velvet Gloss Lip Pencils:

L-R Happy Days and Baroque (flash, then no flash):

These are absolutely fabulous, I love the fact that they’re so glossy yet not at all sticky and they have great staying power. It’s so weird knowing you’re going to be sharpening your lip GLOSS... although you’ll need a chunky pencil sharpener for them – very novel.

It is a bit of a shame in that I would hate to wreck the pencil when sharpening, I do prefer it when you can just twist the pencil out rather than having to sharpen it – what do you guys prefer? Does it even matter to you? Am I weird? Don’t answer that last one (unless it’s to say ‘no’ of course... ha)!

There are more shades in this range (I think 6 of them), but unfortunately I don’t have any more pictures of these - they are released on February 1st though so you don't have too long to wait to see them all.

Angelika Lip Gloss (no flash, then flash):

I adore this gloss, both the colour and the texture. The colour is a very girly pink, a bit like candy floss really... and what I really like is that although it does have great pigmentation, you can still get the colour quite sheer on your lips if you want to! The texture is one of the best I’ve used in any lip gloss as it’s very silky and smooth and seems to have great staying power.

The photo below shows it close up on my lips.

Other colours included in the collection are Nana and Super Orgasm (shown respectively below with Angelika), both of which look equally as lovely but unfortunately I don’t have them to swatch, at least not at the moment. Maybe Mr Beauty Scoop will buy me them for my birthday next month (*hint hint* if you’re reading this, Mr BS)!

Finally I have Nouveau Monde Duo Eyeshadow:

This is possibly the most beautiful eyeshadow duo, consisting of a metallic silver lilac and a stunning olive-gold shadow; two colours that you quite possibly would never have put together normally, but actually two colours that make a surprisingly good combination. These are perfectly pigmented, blend with ease and wear very well too – I really love these!

Also available in the collection is Bateau Ivre (below, left); a rich sky blue paired perfectly with a denim blue. Again I don’t have this to swatch but it does look lovely all the same... loving the denim blue in the picture.

Other products of note (in my opinion) in the spring 2011 collection are:

Desperado Nail Polish, described as an antique brass-hued polish – looks gorgeous, can’t wait to get my hands on this one to show you!

Hollywoodland (pale gold) and Celebrate (parrot green) Soft Touch Shadow Pencils – I love the look of these, the colours are right up my street and again, I’m hoping to find these in my birthday box from Mr Beauty Scoop next month!

Edit to add Happy Days Gloss Pencil on my lips as requested; it's a close up - hope it's ok! Also the pencil is quite sheer, but I could notice it on my lips. The second picture shows a close up of my lips with just lip balm on the left and Happy Days on the right. x

My Latest Hair Colour!

I thought I’d just do a quick post with my new hair colour – since I had it done again on Thursday (27th January) and had a bit more of the plum-y, purple-y red put in it (different tones in solid crescent blocks, if that makes sense, or even if it matters) – which I really like.

Style wise, well I don’t think you can really see the style of it in my photo’s but it’s kind of a disconnected graduated bob with a few more layers in to try and make it look thicker; it’s a little shorter than I expected but I do like it overall, and will even more so when it grows maybe another inch.

I quite like how vibrant the colour looks in the photo below.

What do you think of it? x

MeMeMe Eye Inspire Classic Trio Collection!

This is just a follow up to my last post as I didn’t want to make one post so picture heavy, so I decided to do the Trio Collection shadows that I bought at Christmas in their own post! They cost £5.50 and obviously contain 3 shades within each pot (so roughly £1.83 each).

These are actually flat to the pan, as opposed to curved like the quad shadows – I suppose as you need to fit less of each colour inside... well that’s my guess anyway! Also, I’m not sure if this is just me, but they didn’t seem quite as pigmented as the others and they moved around in the pan as you try to get colour onto your brush which can be a bit of a pain - they’re still lovely all the same but personally I preferred the quads for the £1 extra.

As mentioned in my previous posts about MeMeMe, you can get 25% off your order by using the CHRISTMAS2010 code – but only until 15th February!

MeMeMe Eye Inspire Catwalk Quad Collection!

You may remember that I mentioned MeMeMe cosmetics just before Christmas (here), well I ordered a couple of bits and thought I’d swatch them for you to see.

Starting off with the Eye Inspire Catwalk Quad Eyeshadows which are priced at just £6.50 each, you get 4 shades in each round pot (which equates to roughly £1.62 each) – and they’re actually very, very good as they’re well pigmented, the colours are amazing and they blend really easily too.

The only problem I’ve found with them is that they do tend to blur between the colours due to there being no separator in place to stop it – it’s not really a deal breaker though in my opinion as they more than make up for this with their obvious plus points.

Don't forget that until February 15th you can get 25% off your order by using the code: CHRISTMAS2010
