Chanel Fall 2011 Illusion D'Ombres, 81, FANTASME - Swatched!

Another of the Illusion D’Ombre eye collection is Fantasme, a shimmering, pearly white that almost looks like glistening snow in the pot!

If you read my previous post on the shade ÉPATANT, you’ll already know about the consistency of these products, so I won’t go too much into this again (and this will be the same for any subsequent reviews I do on the rest of the colours in this collection, that I now have in my possession) but it’s such a gorgeous gel-like formula, it’s so soft to apply, and literally bounces back to place after any pressure has applied.

This shade is less pigmented than the others in the collection, and whilst it is still fairly buildable, I don’t think you’re going to get a full, opaque coverage all that easily. However, it is still absolutely beautiful as what looks like pure white so start with, actually shows flecks of pink and turquoise in some lights, as shown in the photographs below – stunning, no?

I’d say this shade was best suited to adding a bit of glitz over another, less glitzy shadow (I can see it working perfectly over a dark matte colour like black, or purple), or maybe for highlighting the inner corner of the eye! If you’re looking for full, dense (yet sparkly) colour, I’d choose one of the other 5 beautiful shades available but if a bit of glitz is what you’re after, and you’re not too bothered about it showing up as a true white then this would be perfect for you!

Available from August 19th at your usual Chanel stockists!

P.S: I decided to blend the product out on my hand to see how it would look, and quite liked it -if you're partial to a bit of glitter on your skin then this could be good for you too.

  2. I've been using mine for a while now and absolutely adore it. I used it on one of the Girls Aloud ladies recently and it looked incredible on screen like glazed shimmery skin! Nice photos hon! Thanks for sharing! x

  3. Nic - It really is, I spent about 30 minutes just making it twinkle on my hand - and even then I had to force myself to go and do something a bit more constructive lol! xx

Lovely Mr Soh - Oooh really? Would love to see pictures sometime. Have you tried any of the others? So glad you like the pics, thanks for coming over and having a look. xx

  5. Hi Daniella, I think so, yes as you can make it as glitzy as you deem appropriate! :-)

I have all the colours here, just trying to get photographs for them to all be put up on here. There's 4 more colours so I'll aim to get these up asap, they'll definitely be up well before release though - hopefully by the beginning of next week I'll have posted them all. xx
